The collaboration between Wu Yi and Damien Dufresne is an artistic meeting full of poetry and depth that merges two creative worlds on the theme of breath, light, and cross-cultural elements, through photography and visual creation. Their joint work explores a subtle dialogue between humanity, nature, and art, relying on a pure and powerful aesthetic.

Yi Wu, a young photographer of Chinese origin, is known for his dreamy and meticulous approach to photography, where each image carries an intense emotional charge. His universe is marked by a balance between minimalism and the richness of sensations. Damien Dufresne, a French visual artist and photographer, brings his unique perspective to this collaboration, shaped by an exploration of forms, light, and textures in a manner close to new surrealism. Together, they compose a collective work where art becomes poetic language, opening the spectator's imagination.

Their exhibition titled “Wind” perfectly illustrates this alliance. The works presented blend projections on canvas and superimpositions of natural patterns, such as trees, sand, or the sky, in a universe where the wind seems to carry shapes and thoughts. The subjects photographed by Wu, often fragile human silhouettes, are in a precarious balance with the elements, oscillating between wandering and the quest for meaning. Dufresne enhances these moments through staging and a scenography intimately linked to nature and the invisible forces that traverse it.

This collaboration is driven by a shared desire to promote intercultural dialogue between two generations and two continents, Europe and Asia. Their work aims to highlight universal emotions through images that transcend cultural differences to touch the very essence of dreams, human fragility, and ephemeral beauty. Light plays a fundamental role here, oscillating between highlights and shadows, enhancing the almost mystical atmosphere of each photographic tableau.

Yi Wu mainly works in the studio, with great care given to light and textures. His photographs possess a sculptural dimension, where light shapes the body and face, creating fascinating volumes that seem to arise from a dream. Damien Dufresne often intervenes in shaping the backgrounds and atmospheres, using his artistic skills to enrich the backgrounds, sometimes through live projections. This immersive technique gives the works a dynamic dimension, as if they were transforming under the true breath of the wind.

The result of this collaboration goes far beyond traditional photography. It is a visual and sensory experience, where each element - silhouette, background, light - acts as a note in a poetic score. The spectator is invited to feel, more than to see, this fragile moment suspended out of time, to perceive the vibrations of the air and to hear the silence surrounding these figures that are both present and ghostly.
